Sateliot is working with fellow Spanish company Datakorum to enable reliable, seamless connectivity for smart metering devices across the most remote areas of the United Arab Emirates.

Sateliot has a 5G IoT satellite constellation delivering standard NB-IoT connectivity from space. Datakorum provides end-to-end IoT. They have have joined forces to improve connectivity for the UAE’s oil, gas and water pipeline infrastructure.

This partnership integrates Sateliot’s satellite connectivity with Datakorum’s IoT technology, setting a benchmark for ubiquitous, high-performance industrial connectivity. The initiative marks a step forward in addressing the connectivity problems of harsh and remote environments where traditional infrastructure falls short.

To kick off the collaboration, both companies are launching a proof of concept to validate the seamless integration of terrestrial and non-terrestrial 5G networks. This demonstration highlights consistent and resilient data transmission from remote locations, reinforcing the transformative role of satellite IoT in a region where the 5G IoT market is projected to reach $1.71bn by 2030.

By leveraging Sateliot’s constellation, Datakorum enhances its connectivity-as-a-service offering, effectively eliminating coverage gaps and unlocking the potential of IoT for applications such as energy, water management and smart infrastructure. This collaboration supports the UAE’s digital transformation strategy, and empowers more data-driven decision-making across sectors.

“We are excited to partner with Datakorum, a company that shares our commitment to pushing the boundaries of IoT,” said Gianluca Redolfi, CCO of Sateliot (sateliot.space). “Our 5G NB-IoT satellite constellation is designed to catalyse global IoT adoption, and this collaboration exemplifies its transformative potential. The UAE is a key strategic market and, by joining forces with Datakorum, we are demonstrating how our technology delivers real value in one of the world’s most innovative regions. Together, we’re expanding the reach of IoT connectivity to support smarter and more resilient operations.”

Rafael Martínez, R&D manager of Datakorum (www.datakorum.com), added: “Our alliance with Sateliot reinforces Datakorum’s vision of extending IoT beyond the limits of terrestrial networks, ensuring connectivity in the most critical environments. By integrating non-terrestrial 5G, we close the coverage gap in remote areas and empower organisations in the UAE to make data-driven decisions. This step strengthens the country’s digital transformation strategy and demonstrates how terrestrial 5G and satellite networks complement each other to unlock the full potential of IoT.”
