Nvidia is enabling edge computing in lidar sensors from Israeli company Innoviz Technologies.

Innoviz is a tier-one direct supplier of automotive grade lidar sensors and perception software. Its InnovizSmart long-range lidar is now compatible with the Nvidia Jetson AGX Orin platform, enabling seamless integration.

By leveraging Nvidia accelerated computing and edge computing functionalities, users of Innoviz’s lidar technologies for smart applications could experience significant improvements in speed, performance and scalability.

Integrating InnovizSmart with the Jetson Orin allows the platform’s AI processing power to be unleashed, streamlining the data processing pipeline and enhancing the system’s ability to make real-time decisions, in applications such as mobility, aerial, robotics and intelligent traffic management. The Jetson Orin is expected to simplify the deployment of complex AI models and accelerate the speed of data processing at the edge, improving efficiency and lowering operational costs.

The integration with the Jetson Orin (www.nvidia.com/en-us/autonomous-machines/embedded-systems/jetson-orin) platform is already being used by some customers and is a key element of Innoviz’s strategy to expand the capabilities of InnovizSmart, reinforcing the company’s commitment to providing smart applications developers and integrators with tools to create safer, more connected environments.

InnovizSmart long-range lidar (innoviz.tech/innovizsmart) is a rugged and reliable sensor tailored for smart applications such as mobility, aerial, robotics and intelligent traffic management. It features low-power consumption, a uniform field of view and high-resolution 3D point cloud that enables accurate object detection at distances up to 400m.
