Vodafone and Microsoft are providing more digital options to businesses across Qatar by incorporating Microsoft Azure as part of Vodafone’s IoT range of products and services.

Businesses in Qatar, including government entities and public and private enterprises, should enjoy secure, reliable and customised features and benefits from Vodafone’s IoT products hosted on Microsoft Azure.

“As part of our mission to bring innovative digital technologies to the market, partnering with global players such as Microsoft, and incorporating platforms such as Microsoft Azure, means that we can offer best-of-breed products and services, with a higher standard of security and user experience,” said Mahday Saad E M Al-Hebabi, enterprise business unit director at Vodafone Qatar. “Through our partnerships, together we can turn the challenge of digital transformation into an opportunity for all businesses.”

Vodafone is using Azure as the main platform to host, develop and deliver its own IoT offerings. This includes IoT fleet management, which enables the delivery of real-time information such as traffic data, vehicle location, fuel consumption, vehicle status and employee work-time.

“Since we announced our commitment to invest $5bn in IoT and intelligent edge, we have launched more than 100 new services and features in our IoT platform, secured IoT endpoints at scale with Azure sphere and onboarded more than ten thousand IoT partners from intelligent edge to intelligent cloud,” said Lana Khalaf, country manager at Microsoft Qatar. “We are bringing this investment and innovation to Qatar through our upcoming cloud data centre region, where customers will be able to tap into the unlimited potential of our trusted easy to use IoT platform to build scalable and secured intelligent edge solutions. We are excited to establish this partnership with Vodafone, as they will leverage Microsoft Azure AI and IoT services to bring unparalleled opportunity for transformation across industries in Qatar.”

Going forward, the collaboration between Vodafone and Microsoft should bring innovations that will contribute to the digital transformation of the local market, enabling diverse industries and businesses of all sizes to access those that cater to their needs.

Vodafone Qatar provides voice, messaging, data, fixed communications, IoT and ICT managed services in Qatar, for both consumers and businesses. The company commenced commercial operations in 2009 and had 1.7 million mobile customers as of September 2021. Its network infrastructure is expanding to cover key locations in the country with fibre connectivity and 5G, along with a digital ecosystem.
