Fibocom debuted a Wifi 7 module at last week’s Broadband World Forum in Paris.
With the popularity of FWA (fixed wireless access) devices among homes and enterprises, the pursuit of unleashing the potential of unlimited speed performance with 5G and wifi combinations never stops.
During Broadband World Forum, Fibocom debuted the WN170-GL Wifi 7 module with key performance in supporting 5.8Gbit/s download speed and jitter-free latency, delivering a fast wireless experience for FWA scenarios.
It demonstrates advancements in optimised network usage, speed and overall performance. The module is set to provide better wireless connections for smart home devices and enterprise-level terminals.
Coupled with the Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 WCN7851, the integrated module is ready for 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be and compliant with Bluetooth 5.3. In an LGA form factor package, the module adopts multiple innovations and enhancements in the support of MU-MIMO (multi-user MIMO) and 4K QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) schemes, with the capacity to pack more data into each signal thus offering better data throughput and assuring lag-free wireless connectivity.
In terms of channel bandwidth, it supports MLO (multi-link operation), allowing flexibility in DBS (dual-band simultaneous) operations such as 2.4GHz + 5GHz and 2.4GHz + 6GHz. A closed-loop power detector and low-power PCIe interface achieve low power and high-speed data transmission.
By using the merits of Wifi 7 innovations, the 5G FWA industry should be able to unlock wireless experiences for smart home devices and enterprise-level terminals. Fibocom provides 5G + Wifi 7 by integrating the FG190 5G sub-6GHz module and WN170-GL Wifi 7 module, helping FWA users build up wireless devices such as CPEs, routers and mobile hot-spots.
The 5G FWA device is transforming as a hub with a pivotal role in enabling gigabit wireless access in indoor and outdoor scenarios, and the introduction of the Wifi 7 module could be crucial to unleashing the next-level wireless experience combined with Fibocom’s 5G module.
The company says it is confident in offering the 5G + Wifi 7 package for bringing smoother video conferencing, virtual collaboration and lag-free streaming for a wide range of industry users worldwide.
Engineering sample of the Wifi 7 module will be available before the end of the year.
