Italian embedded IoT cyber-security start-up Exein is working with Taiwanese semiconductor firm MediaTek to transform device security on a massive scale.

Exein’s cyber-security technology will be natively integrated into MediaTek’s Genio platform, starting with the 24.1 release of MediaTek IoT Yocto. This collaboration will bring security features to billions of connected devices worldwide.

MediaTek powers over two billion devices annually, spanning industries such as industrial IoT, mobile, smart home, automotive and healthcare. With this partnership, Exein’s technology will be seamlessly embedded into Genio products, ensuring users can deploy security directly out of the box.

“Customers want to have the utmost confidence that their products are safe and secure using MediaTek Genio chipsets,” said CK Wang, general manager of MediaTek (www.mediatek.com). “To achieve this, we began working together with Exein, a leader in IoT security, to ensure that Genio provides our partners with the peace of mind needed for optimal security and protection.”

Gianni Cuozzo, CEO of Exein, added: “We are incredibly proud to announce our alliance with MediaTek, an undisputed leader in the industry, with billions of devices powered by their chipsets every year. Bringing Exein to MediaTek chipsets is a remarkable milestone, the result of our team’s relentless dedication and a shared vision to deliver security and innovation in the embedded world. MediaTek is a key strategic partner for us, and this collaboration represents a decisive step towards a more secure and connected future for IoT and embedded devices worldwide.”

The collaboration removes integration barriers and accelerates time to market and compliance with global standards, including the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). MediaTek customers now have the opportunity to adopt Exein’s cyber security as part of their development process, opening a world of possibilities for secure and resilient IoT products:

  • Native integration of Exein: MediaTek Genio products will come with Exein’s cyber-security technology integrated, providing a seamless security experience across the entire product lifecycle.
  • Accelerated time to market: The native integration of Exein’s security into MediaTek’s Genio platforms opens up opportunities for businesses to develop secure IoT offerings without integration barriers, speeding up development cycles and reducing costs.
  • Regulatory compliance: Exein’s technology enables quick compliance with the CRA and other regulatory standards, ensuring secure and compliant devices for users worldwide.

Exein’s cyber security, designed for embedded devices, is lightweight, efficient and adaptable. It equips businesses with tools to protect connected devices while supporting future-proof advancements. By embedding Exein’s technology directly into MediaTek’s Genio platform, this collaboration ensures security is an integral part of the development process, rather than an afterthought.

The seamless integration into Genio makes it easier for businesses to build secure, resilient IoT devices with little effort. This partnership represents a leap forward in Exein’s mission to provide embedded cyber security at scale and protect billions of connected devices globally.
