Videotron and EMnify, known for its connectivity management platform, are joining forces to help Québec organisations become more autonomous in IoT deployment.

The long-term partnership will also open the doors of 195 countries to Québec companies that want to export their IoT projects to the rest of the world.

“Videotron Business has always had close relationships with Québec businesses, cities and regional county municipalities,” said Pierre Karl Péladeau, CEO of Montreal-based Videotron. “We are determined to offer them the best available technology to help them optimise their operations at home and abroad. This partnership with EMnify enables us to support the digital transformation of Québec organisations more effectively and to fully embrace IoT, which is the way of the future.”

The partnership will put German firm EMnify’s end-to-end IoT communications at the core of Videotron’s full-service IoT offering for enterprise customers. Videotron will leverage EMnify’s global cellular IoT connectivity, secure cloud-based integration, and local network access spanning 2G to 5G, LTE-M, and NB-IoT in over 180 countries and more than 25 cloud regions. Videotron’s enterprise customers will also benefit from EMnify’s IoT network security and 360-degree IoT device visibility via the co-branded EMnify IoT portal.

“Videotron’s enterprise-grade IoT offering required the most powerful, reliable and globally deployable connectivity on the market, and that’s why they came to EMnify,” said Mathias Muehlfelder, senior director of partnerships at EMnify. “We’re thrilled to be working with such a stellar local partner as we bring our game-changing communications to the North American market.”

Together, Videotron and EMnify hope to offer solutions to many of the major problems in IoT deployment, including managing multiple SIM cards, secure connections, ultra-fast integration with IoT applications, and the simple, effective user interface IoT devices require. For example, a company that distributes connected sensors to customers around the world will now be able to update remotely thousands of devices simultaneously using the smart SIM cards developed with EMnify.

“Businesses and public organisations have growing and increasingly diverse technological needs,” said France-Éliane Nolet, vice-president of Videotron. “Videotron Business is pleased to be able to meet those needs with an IoT offering that draws on the strengths of our people, our networks and our partner EMnify. We can now deliver the connectivity, control, autonomy and easy, transparent deployment that our customers demand.”

This offering is applicable to any type of connected device, from street lighting and smart parking sensors to water level sensors, monitoring systems, waste management tools and traffic management systems.

Videotron has also rolled out its own dedicated LTE-M IoT network. Furthermore, in September 2021, Videotron partnered with Québec-based X-Telia to offer cities, towns, government organisations and businesses across Québec a wide range of IoT products and services.

Founded in 2014, EMnify transformed cellular IoT connectivity into an easy-to-consume cloud resource. Videotron, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quebecor Media, is an integrated communications company engaged in television, entertainment, internet access, wireline telephone and mobile telephone services.
