Digi launched an XBee IoT for LoRaWan offering at last week’s LoRaWan Live event in Munich.

The launch is said to mark a significant advancement in the field of IoT connectivity. It delivers reliability, security and scalability, offering a single-source and end-to-end option that simplifies deployment and scaling for IoT applications. This reduces complexity as OEMs and enterprises don’t need to integrate multiple components from different vendors, which enables businesses to expedite the time it takes to achieve their IoT objectives.

Nik Kitson, director of business development at Digi, said it was designed for seamless integration, “empowering our customers to deploy and scale their IoT applications rapidly and without the complexities of managing components from multiple vendors. This launch not only aligns with market forecasts but also reinforces Digi’s dedication to solving industry problems while delivering dependable, long-term support, minimising the complexities of deploying multiple vendor devices.”

Elements of the complete, end-to-end offering (www.digi.com/products/embedded-systems/digi-xbee/lorawan) include a module for integration with sensors and end nodes in IoT systems (XBee LR), gateways for LoRaWan (HX15 and HX20), a device management platform (X-On) and a smartphone-based scan-and-go provisioning app. In addition, the XBee IEC intelligent edge controller provides an easy drop-in to transform existing Modbus-based devices into an industrial IoT system.
