At last week’s Electronica in Munich, Digidemonstrated complete edge-to-cloud OEM options using products from its ConnectCore and XBee portfolios.

The connected product demo includes the ConnectCore 91 system-on-module, XBee 3 global LTE Cat 4 smart modem and ConnectCore cloud services to show how a user can work with Digi to create a secure and reliable connected device.

The demo collected data about the ConnectCore 91 SoM and transmitted them via the XBee cellular connection using cloud services, based on the Digi Remote Manager (www.digi.com/products/iot-software-services/digi-remote-manager).

It showed how to use ConnectCore cloud services to manage devices remotely and provide over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates to add features and critical security updates to products in the field.

Andreas Burghart, Digi senior product manager, said the ConnectCore 91 SoM was a suitable entry-level product.

“It is just single core and comes in at a better cost point,” he said. “You can have compatible designs and scale up. When the ConnectCore 93 was launched, people said they wanted a lower specification product for some applications. This is it.”

The cloud services provide a ready-to-use infrastructure that can be modified and branded to exact needs. Because the cloud services are completely integrated with ConnectCore SoMs, deployment time is reduced, allowing users to innovate quickly by offering capabilities and business models for their products, such as remote management and subscription-based services.

The cloud services (www.digi.com/products/embedded-systems/digi-connectcore/software-and-tools/cloud-services) are available now. A free one-year development subscription and ready-to-use demo and application framework are included in all ConnectCore development kits.
