Cisco is helping Swedish telco Tele2 deliver advanced IoT services to businesses across industries.
Tele2 and Cisco will work together to bring more capabilities to 2Control, a connectivity management platform powered by Cisco’s IoT control centre. This will create offers on a global scale to support the demands of new and existing IoT users in areas such as massive IoT, automotive and utilities.
Under the agreement, Tele2 will use the IoT control centre to offer extended functionality within 2Control to customers worldwide. This will include two packages – Essential and Advantage – that are designed to cater to users’ varying requirements for powering their IoT ecosystems.
“IoT use cases are mobility’s next frontier and, for enterprises, efficient and effective IoT brings growth opportunities, whether that’s optimising their own operations or offering customers new services and experiences,” said Masum Mir, senior vice president at Cisco (www.cisco.com). “We’re excited about how this will grow our relationship with Tele2 and create an environment where customers can easily adopt and innovate.”
Tele2 and Cisco will also work together on a development roadmap to create more capabilities for 2Control. Additionally, they will cooperate and present more features for the IoT control centre (www.cisco.com/c/en/us/solutions/internet-of-things/iot-control-center.html) – part of Cisco’s mobility services platform – to address the evolving digitisation needs of businesses in different industries.
Tele2 IoT exclusively delivers its connectivity services via 2Control (tele2iot.com/offering-services/connectivity-management). This expanded partnership will enable the creation of differentiated offerings to meet the diverse needs of businesses across various sectors. Examples include Tele2 supporting the automotive industry with the ability to deploy vehicles in restricted markets, as well as enhancing massive IoT applications through advanced rating capabilities, ensuring improved cost control and quality for their deployments.
“As the IoT market continues to grow exponentially, particularly in massive IoT applications, our collaboration with Cisco is pivotal,” said Stefan Trampus, executive vice president at Tele2. “By combining our global connectivity with the IoT control centre, we are perfectly positioned to swiftly address new use cases and adapt to the ever-changing needs of IoT customers and ensure that our 2Control platform remains at the forefront of innovation in the IoT space. Our decade-long partnership with Cisco has been instrumental to our growth. Extending this partnership will enable us to continue our international expansion by offering unmatched options in the rapidly expanding IoT market.”
Tele2 (www.tele2.com) was founded in 1993 and in 2023 generated revenue of SEK29bn.
