California-based Cavli Wireless revealed its made-in-India CQS290 LTE Cat 4 Android smart module at last month’s India Mobile Congress in New Delhi.

The module was designed, engineered, and manufactured in India, and combines high-performance mobile computing and graphical capabilities with seamless connectivity for automotive and Industry 4.0 applications.

Cavli has an R&D engineering centre and manufacturing hub in Kochi, India.

The CQS290 flagship cellular Android module is from Cavli’s C series. This LTE Cat 4 module has data rates up to 150Mbit/s downlink and 50Mbit/s uplink with 2G fallback.

With its Arm Cortex A53 quad-core CPU and Adreno 702 GPU, the module claims graphics and power efficiency.

There are two region-specific variants. It is equipped with the Qualcomm Location Suite Gen 9VT engine, providing GNSS performance and supporting multi-constellation GNSS, including GPS and Glonass.

The module can energise applications ranging from two-wheelers and telematics to fleet management and point-of-sale terminals. Its multifaceted features are amplified by the optional integrated eSIM.

The Hubble Stack Intelligence elevates the CQS290’s capabilities, allowing for remote diagnosis, monitoring and debugging via Hubble Lens, a feature of the Cavli Hubble IoT platform. This eradicates the need for on-site intervention, streamlining the scalability of IoT.

Through partnerships with operators in India and globally, Cavli has carved a niche, offering LTE and LTE-M connectivity with in service quality and affordability.

“Gracing the stage of India Mobile Congress, Asia’s prime telecom, media and technology event, Cavli Wireless revealed our pioneering cellular IoT Android module, the CQS290, fuelled by recognition from Forbes India and D Globalist as one of the top 200 companies,” said John Mathew, CEO of Cavli Wireless. “We are unwavering in our commitment to developing India’s semiconductor ecosystem, recognising the journey ahead to become a global semiconductor powerhouse despite geopolitical challenges, and emphasising the necessity for industry-government-academia collaboration to meet this exciting challenge.”

Having established an engineering presence in Kochi, the company is gearing up for a workforce expansion in the coming years, with the India operations team projected to surpass 200 skilled professionals across diverse technological and business roles.
