AT&T has launched a connected-spaces smart IoT sensor kit for small and medium businesses.
The smart IoT wireless sensors collect data and send alerts to help catch leaks, detect open doors, prevent fraud, monitor refrigeration malfunctions and more. They collect and transmit data to manage operations in near real time through a simple installation that requires no in-house IT expertise.
Users can select the kit of sensors that fits their needs, including call buttons, door and window detectors, water leak detection, temperature and humidity sensors, and motion and light sensors.
Small and mid-sized businesses are the backbone of the economy but often lack the resources and tools to manage their operations as efficiently as larger enterprises. AT&T Connected Spaces is an IoT sensor kit designed to help businesses monitor and manage their operations more efficiently.
This plug-and-play offering provides an affordable and scalable way for businesses to gain insights about their space to optimise resources, improve operations and customer satisfaction, without disrupting daily operations.
Businesses of all kinds are looking for ways to drive efficiency, improve the customer experience and increase revenue. These require business owners to make tough calls regarding staffing and process changes.
AT&T is helping small and mid-sized businesses make informed decisions and remain competitive with the integration of IoT sensors. By continuously monitoring various metrics such as temperature, humidity, motion and energy usage, the sensors provide near real-time data to help optimise processes. This approach enables businesses to respond to potential issues, reduce downtime and improve resource management.
Designed for plug-and-play installation, the sensors are pre-staged and pre-integrated in the dashboard. The kit includes sensors for temperature, humidity, motion and more, enabling businesses to monitor their environments comprehensively. Owners can receive alerts and insights when key thresholds are exceeded, such as temperature changes, equipment malfunctions or stock depletion. It is expandable to suit business needs, with the option to add more sensors as needed.
The IoT kit includes sensors, a gateway and a user-friendly cloud platform that can be self-installed with little technical expertise. The smart sensors are pre-integrated and pre-staged in the online dashboards and monitor key metrics with insights across the business, tracking everything from temperature to security.
The gateway collects data from the sensors and sends them to a secure cloud-based platform. The dashboard displays near real-time and historical data from spaces and assets, sends alerts and offers insights to help optimise performance based on the businesses’ preferences.
Common use cases include guest satisfaction awareness, security, cold storage and equipment monitoring, downtime alerts, leak detection, entry detection and call button alerts.
“For small and mid-sized businesses, IoT isn’t just about keeping up with technology, it’s about staying ahead in an increasingly digital economy,” said Mike Van Horn, associate vice president at AT&T (about.att.com). “Our new IoT kit takes the guesswork, time and confusion out of IoT setup and management, allowing owners to revolutionise the way they operate, serve customers and grow.”
