Taiwanese firm Aetina is collaborating with Fibocom to bring high-speed 5G capacity to edge AI computing platforms.

Aetina provides GPGPU and Jetson edge AI computing for embedded applications, and Fibocom, is a provider of IoT wireless communication modules.

The latest Aetina edge AI computing platforms, powered by Nvidia Jetson modules, are compatible with Fibocom’s FM160 5G communication module, providing users and developers with performance and flexibility, while leveraging the 5G network for faster, seamless and real-time connectivity.

Edge computing requires intensive workloads for computer vision and other artificial intelligence (AI) tasks, making it important to ensure real-time and low-latency 5G capabilities. The FM160 is compliant with 3GPP release 16 standards and supports NR Carrier Aggregation. It can optimise the 5G user experience with extended coverage, boosted throughput and increased capacity, letting businesses and industry benefit from intelligent and autonomous decision-making.

With 5G, AIoT has the potential to transform business across industries, creating possibility for edge devices, and providing more power-efficient performance at the edge. As a member of the Nvidia Partner Network, Aetina offers compact and energy-efficient edge AI computing platforms powered by Jetson modules. For example, the AN810-XNX supports M.2 device with an extension slot to help developers expand their communication ability and IO connectivity, providing high-performance, low-power consumption for edge AI computing.

Looking ahead, Aetina and Fibocom plan to keep developing and optimising edge AI and 5G based on Jetson modules, including Jetson AGX Orin.

“Our collaboration with Aetina reflects Fibocom’s commitment to building out the AIoT world,” said Simon Tao, general manager at Fibocom. “By bringing 5G capacities to the edge, AIoT can deliver on the full promise of its potential, ushering in a new era of massive connectivity that will revolutionise how we live, work and play.”

Austin Lin, product division head at Aetina, added: “Aetina has been building a wide and strong ecosystem network in global edge AI industry. This partnership with Fibocom benefits our clients with their growing demand of developing reliable AI platforms with real-time connectivity at the edge.”

Fibocom is a provider of wireless communication modules for IoT and was the first stock-listed wireless module provider in China. It provides end-to-end IoT wireless communications for telecom operators, IoT equipment manufacturers and IoT system integrators.

Aetina, founded in 2012 in Taipei, is a provider of GPGPU and Jetson edge AI computing for embedded applications. With a focus on the industrial market, it provides industrial components and longevity services, and is an integrator in the AIoT market.
