Taiwanese IoT company Advantech has introduced a Wifi 6E wireless kit for use in medical equipment, transportation devices, AI and retail kiosks.
The AIW-166K kit is for applications that require faster throughput, high transmission rates and extended battery life. The wireless module supports dual-stream wifi in the 2.4, 5 and 6GHz bands. It includes a Wifi 6E module, antennas and cables for product development testing, reducing overall development effort and accelerating time-to-market for edge networking applications.
The kit provides higher speed and bandwidth previously unavailable with Wifi 5, speeding up data rates from 433 to 600Mbit/s under the 80MHz specification, and 6933 to 9607Mbit/s in the 160MHz range. It improves the status from single user MIMO and OFDMA in waves one and two to multi user MIMO and OFDMA.
Range is improved over Wifi 5 range from 312.5 to 781.25kHz. This signal cover means less delays and better performance. AGV vehicles in manufacturing warehouses and facilities can perform their tasks better, at the same time saving on labour costs, reducing human error and improving production safety.
In addition, it will increase throughput by up to 25%. According to demand, hospitals and clinics need systems to analyse data for accurate diagnoses and to assist procedures in critical accident and emergency departments. Data need to go through wireless systems, which are essential future-proof requirements for medical devices and equipment.
The product uses the Intel 6E AX210 and comes in the M.2 2230 form factor. Operating temperature is either 0 to +70˚C or -40 to +85˚C. It is compatible with Windows, Linux and Chrome operating systems.
