A joint venture between Dongfeng and Stellantis is buying intelligent cockpits from Chinese mobility technology provider ECarX and internet of vehicles (IoV) company China Unicom Smart Connection (CUSC).

Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën Automobile (DPCA) is buying the Intelligent Cockpit 2.0 products that are based on the ECarX E02 intelligent cockpit computing module. DPCA will use them for three major vehicles launches this year.

These products have been integrated into DPCA’s Citroën Tianyi, Peugeot 4008 compact SUV and Peugeot’s flagship 508L long-wheelbase sedan models, which were launched for mass production in the first half of August.

As of July 2023, more than one million units of the E02 intelligent cockpit computing module have been installed in 32 vehicle models.

E02 is an integrated core computing module for the infotainment systems of intelligent cockpits. It has integrated multiple electronic components, including energy-efficient systems-on-chip (SoCs) with 4G communication module and power management chips.

In terms of functionality, E02 supports the development of common and practical functions including data and information encryption, augmented reality navigation, facial recognition, telematics box, quick start, intelligent voice assistant, multi-screen interaction, surround view monitor and digital video recorder.

The independent display can have up to four screens.

E02 has passed AEC-Q104 qualification, representing the capability to maintain stable performance in demanding external environments while fulfilling safety requirements. It uses the recently upgraded C-Connect 3.0 interactive smart connectivity system and intelligent technology functions.

This helps CUSC increase the development efficiency for its intelligent cockpit products and create a series of differentiated units.

ECarX (www.ecarxgroup.com) was founded in 2017 and has around 2000 employees. The co-founders are automotive entrepreneurs CEO Ziyu Shen and Eric Li Shufu, who is also the founder of Zhejiang Geely, one of the largest automotive groups in the world, with ownership interests in international brand OEMs including Lotus, Lynk, Polestar, Smart and Volvo.
