California-based Populus, which helps cities manage transportation and mobility services, is working with micromobility company Dott, to manage e-scooters in Nottingham, UK.

Nottingham City Council (www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk) has joined more than 100 cities around the world leveraging the Populus platform to receive data securely from shared mobility operators and to manage mobility and street regulations digitally.

Through this partnership, Populus will receive real-time data from Dott’s shared e-scooter fleet through a standard format. As dockless scooters and bike fleets continue to grow, cities are seeking proactive tools to maintain order and enhance road safety. By working collaboratively with the public sector and mobility operators, Populus delivers insights to cities on how people’s transportation choices and travel patterns are changing.

Under the agreement, Populus will provide its first city in the UK with access to its secure Mobility Manager platform to optimise Nottingham’s transportation networks, reducing traffic congestion, improving road safety and supporting the transition from a car-centric lifestyle. Nottingham will gain the ability to validate Dott (ridedott.com) operator data, monitor real-time vehicle movements, create, communicate and track compliance with policies, and analyse how and where electric scooters are being used.

The city will also be able to evaluate programme performance across multiple metrics, including vehicle use, fleet distribution and accessibility, and leverage trip data to inform infrastructure investment decisions such as bike lanes.

“We are honoured to work with Nottingham to make urban mobility more efficient, sustainable and safe,” said Regina Clewlow, CEO of Populus. “Our team is committed to helping cities and shared mobility operators partner together to deliver for the future of transportation and we are proud to continue our impact, empowering European cities to harness the potential of data and technology for the benefit of their community members.”

Populus (www.populus.ai) helps cities and private mobility providers deliver safe, efficient and equitable streets. The platform empowers cities with actionable insights to manage their streets and kerbs with access to mobility data from shared bike, scooter, moped and car-sharing operators, and delivery services. The platform serves over 100 cities around the world, ingesting data from more than 40 operators and over 350 million rides to date.
