San Francisco-based Infra, a tech company focused on building a global infrastructure for autonomous vehicles (AVs), plans to launch its first Giga Hub in Los Angeles.
It sees this as a critical milestone in the company’s strategy to scale globally and drive smart city development.
Designed to integrate fast charging, automated maintenance and AI-driven fleet coordination, the Giga Hub is for large-scale AV operations. At its core is Infra’s proprietary H2G hub-to-grid system, enabling vehicles to charge during off-peak hours and feed electricity back to the grid when demand surges. By reducing operational costs and enhancing energy resilience, H2G lays the groundwork for a sustainable, city-friendly AV ecosystem that can be replicated worldwide.
“Launching in Los Angeles underscores our commitment to creating infrastructure that any city can adapt to meet ambitious mobility and sustainability goals,” said John Gabriel, CEO of Infra. “Our plan is to roll out Giga Hubs globally, providing a standardised platform that addresses real-world challenges – traffic congestion, emissions targets and the need for safe, efficient AV services.”
By offering a ready-to-deploy framework, Infra aims to accelerate the transition to cleaner, smarter cities everywhere. Municipalities, automakers and technology companies stand to benefit from an end-to-end infrastructure model that scales with market demand. According to industry analysts, EV charging investments are expected to surpass $450bn by 2030, presenting an opportunity for stakeholders who recognise the economic and environmental advantages of robust AV networks.
“We see this as far more than a local initiative, it’s a global call to action,” Gabriel added. “From Los Angeles to London, and from Singapore to Riyadh, our Giga Hubs will serve as catalysts for the widespread adoption of driverless mobility, boosting efficiency, reducing emissions and laying the foundation for the cities of tomorrow.”
The announcement highlights the company’s commitment to driving a new era of connected urban living, powered by seamlessly integrated AV services. Additional details on the Los Angeles Giga Hub, future site expansions and alliances will be unveiled in the coming months.
