Yokogawa Electric has released OpreX Asset Health Insights 2.0, an enhanced version of its cloud-based plant asset monitoring service. The company has introduced new embedded asset monitoring and management functions together with support for Alibaba Cloud. This is Yokogawa’s first technical partnership with Alibaba.

The Asset Health Insights service collects and aggregates OT data from distributed assets. It also processes data to form a single source of truth for real-time asset modelling and monitoring in a secured environment.

Assset Health Insights 1.0 was launched in 2022 to support remote and autonomous operations. The original version of Asset Health Insights supported Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. As the number of users of Alibaba Cloud has continued to expand, making it China’s largest cloud platform, Yokogawa has added support for Alibaba Cloud in this second version of the platform.

Version 2.0 also improves the platform’s asset monitoring and management capabilities and provides greater protection against cyber-attacks with the addition of new features.

In addition to full integration with Alibaba Cloud, the platform now supports insights and application hosting with language support including Chinese as well as English, Japanese, and Korean. 2D and 3D graphics have been added to the new platform to improve operability. This allows users greater flexibility in how to interactively visualise and display the status of assets such as pumps, motors, and chillers.

The platform also now supports ISA 18.2 compliant alarm management. Based on the “Management of Alarm Systems for Process Industries” issued by the International Society for Automation (ISA), users can now create ISA 18.2 compliant alarms based on various parameters to standardise work processes. They can also check an audit trail to identify who acknowledged an alarm and when the alarm occurred.

The target industries for the new platform include oil and gas, petrochemicals, chemicals, iron and steel, pulp and paper, electric power, and waste-water treatment. Applications include asset monitoring, asset performance management, sustainability/energy management, and data management.
