Teradyne Robotics plans to open a new US operations hub in Wixom, Michigan, in 2026. The facility will manufacture Universal Robots industrial collaborative robots and may also produce Mobile Industrial Robots autonomous mobile robots.

According to the company, the new hub will serve as a regional customer training centre, service hub, and visitor experience centre. Teradyne Robotics says the hub will support the growth of advanced robotics in America by providing products and services tailored to meet the needs of US manufacturers.

The facility is expected to create over 200 jobs in the coming years. It will be located near existing manufacturing facilities in the Detroit area, which has a strong industrial heritage.

Teradyne Robotics already has a significant customer base in North America and a regional office in Novi, Michigan. The company’s global headquarters is based in Massachusetts with robotics R&D in Denmark.

The location of the new operations hub was chosen for its proximity to major manufacturers and educational institutions, providing access to a skilled workforce and advanced research and development capabilities.

A recent industry survey found that 73% of North American manufacturers cited productivity improvement as their top reason for investing in automation. The same survey showed that companies using collaborative robots reported an average double-digit increase in productivity.
