Siemens and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are collaborating on integrating generative AI into engineering and manufacturing software. Siemens is integrating Amazon’s Bedrock into its Mendix low code platform. Bedrock provides a range of foundation models for generative AI via a single API together with security, privacy, and responsible AI capabilities.

According to Siemens, Mendix customers can boost industrial productivity using generative AI. Industrial workforce will be able to find machine documentation faster, generating relevant visualisations without a need to manually search a database, manuals, and records. Production engineers can use generative AI to suggest machine adjustments to improve yield, and get suggestions on equipment adjustments, maintenance, and spare parts to maximise a factory’s productivity.

Generative AI technology can supercharge applications with features like summarising and analysing lengthy technical or legal documents, translating content into different languages, or recognising images. Financial businesses can integrate automatic fraud detection in their software, while workers in a car factory can improve quality based on AI analysis of millions of data points in the manufacturing line.  With access to a choice of foundational models on Amazon Bedrock, users can easily select the best model for their specific task and integrate it with just a few clicks.

“By integrating Amazon Bedrock into our low-code platform, we are democratising generative AI technology and empowering everyone to create the applications customers need to become more competitive, resilient, and sustainable,” said Roland Busch, CEO of Siemens. “Making smarter applications without programming expertise accelerates innovation and helps companies to tackle skilled labour shortages.”

“Together, AWS and Siemens are empowering companies worldwide to create new capabilities, solutions, and value with generative AI,” said Adam Selipsky, AWS CEO. “This partnership builds on our 10-year relationship with Siemens, giving customers across all industries the flexible, customisable, secure environment they need to take advantage of new opportunities with generative AI.”
