Shenzhen-based Pudu Robotics has launched the PUDU D5 Series, a line of industry-grade autonomous quadruped robots designed for complex outdoor environments.

The series includes two models: the PUDU D5, which features four legs for maximum terrain adaptability, and the PUDU D5-W, a wheeled version with optimised performance on mixed surfaces. The robots are equipped with advanced autonomy, rugged mobility, precise perception, and high environmental resilience, allowing them to operate in challenging environments such as uneven terrain, slopes, staircases, and multi-level layouts.

The PUDU D5 Series is designed to expand the company’s embodied-intelligence portfolio beyond specialised service robots into complex industrial and outdoor environments. The robots are suitable for applications such as industrial inspection, logistics support, and emergency response.

Felix Zhang, CEO of Pudu Robotics, said the D5 Series represents “a significant leap forward” in robotics technology. “We are building a collaborative ecosystem of ‘specialised, semi-humanoid, and humanoid robots’ that, by complementing each other’s capabilities, can comprehensively meet the diverse needs of our users.”

The robots are powered by a dual-processor architecture featuring NVIDIA Orin and RK3588 for up to 275 TOPS, allowing them to execute real-time SLAM, 3D reconstruction, object recognition, obstacle avoidance, and path planning simultaneously.

Key features of the PUDU D5 Series include:

  • High-precision 360° perception with four 120° fisheye cameras and dual 192-line LiDAR sensors
  • Million-square-meter navigation capability with the ability to map and navigate facilities up to one million square meters
  • All-terrain mobility for complex environments, including slopes and stairs
  • All-weather durability and extreme resilience, with support for cold-start at -10 °C and operation from -20 °C to 55 °C
