Nokia and Telefónica are working together to accelerate digital transformation for enterprises in Latin America.
They plan to offer and deploy Nokia’s complete end-to-end portfolio of industrial-grade private wireless network and digitalisation platforms.
The alliance will be focused on the most promising industries in the region including ports, mining, energy and manufacturing verticals in Hispanic America.
Nokia’s industrial-grade private wireless network provides a broadband connectivity with latency, predictability and security, and has been selected by several industries as the backbone for digital transformation projects.
“In this unprecedented alliance, the benefits of LTE and 5G private wireless will enable Industry 4.0 across industries,” said Juan Vicente Martín, director at Telefonica Movistar Empresas Hispanoamérica. “With our strategic partner Nokia, we provide the best connectivity, enable greater optimisation of operations, achieving important productivity and efficiency rates and contributing to the digitalisation of the industrial sectors throughout Latin America.”
Néstor González from Nokia added: “We are thrilled to partner with Telefonica, combining our leading industrial-grade private wireless with Telefónica Hispanoamérica’s growing B2B and services footprint, to jointly reach a wide variety of enterprises and industries throughout the region. We are very excited to be at the forefront of digital transformation for enterprises in Latin America which have tremendous potential for productivity gains from Industry 4.0. We thank Telefónica Hispanoamérica for their confidence in Nokia and we are looking forward to jointly deploying many new networks.”
Nokia has deployed mission-critical networks to more than 2600 enterprises in the transport, energy, large enterprise, manufacturing, web scale and public sector segments around the globe. It has also extended its footprint to more than 595 private wireless customers worldwide across an array of industrial sectors.
According to a recent survey by Nokia and GlobalData with 79 multinationals that have deployed Nokia industrial-grade private wireless, nearly 80 per cent of survey respondents expected to achieve RoI within six months of deployment.
• Nokia has achieved sustained average downlink speeds of over 2Gbit/s using millimetre wave (mm-wave) spectrum and 5G fixed wireless access (FWA), over a distance of 10.86km. This download speed, the fastest recorded worldwide to date, was accomplished using Nokia’s 5G extended range mm-wave technology at the OuluZone test facility in Oulu, Finland.
