Taiwan-based Megago Tech has introduced an autonomous electric mower for large-scale mowing tasks. The mower has been launched in Japan and aims to address growing labour shortages in the country’s agricultural sector.

The Intelligent Autonomous Electric Mower features self-driving navigation and environmental sensing capabilities. It integrates Electric Power Steering (EPS), GPS, and multi-sensor positioning technologies to plan routes and complete mowing operations autonomously. The mower can also identify obstacles in real time using LiDAR-based sensors and adjust its path accordingly for operational safety.

The technology was showcased at J-AGRI TOKYO 2025, a trade event focused on agricultural innovation. Megago Tech has accumulated research and development experience in autonomous driving systems, which it is now applying to smart farming solutions.

Megago Tech has also extended its autonomous technology to other agricultural applications, such as customised steering control systems for tractors and transport vehicles. The company aims to create a comprehensive smart agriculture ecosystem that integrates field operations with agricultural logistics.
