Henkel has expanded its IIoT Loctite Pulse portfolio with two new offerings: Smart Rotating Equipment Monitoring and Smart Pipes and Tanks Leak Detection. These also deepen integration between the company’s IIoT and its MRO (Maintenance Repair and Overhaul) portfolios.

The Smart Rotating Equipment Monitoring features a 6-in-1 plug-and-play sensor. Loctite Pulse Smart Rotating Equipment Monitoring is designed to allow simultaneous monitoring of six data parameters – from vibration to magnetic flux to acoustic emissions. This streamlines the monitoring process while ensuring improved performance and precision. The solution has already been launched in the US and will be launched in Western Europe in Q3 2024.

Smart Pipes and Tanks Leak Detection provides a retrofittable monitoring solution for the early detection of hydrocarbon leaks. The carbon nanotube-based sensor technology supports early detection of leaks, helps reduce downtime and promotes sustainability, even in ageing tanks and pipelines. Smart Pipes and Tanks Leak Detection is comparable to the existing Loctite Pulse Smart Flange Leak Detection solution and is available in the US and Western Europe.

The new solutions strengthen the integration between Loctite Pulse’s IIoT portfolio and Henkel’s core MRO portfolio. Smart Rotating Equipment Monitoring enables customers to monitor critical equipment such as pumps, motors and gearboxes, identify problems at an early stage and use proven products from Loctite’s extensive MRO range on this basis. Smart Pipes and Tanks Leak Detection also ties in with Loctite’s proven solutions for repairing, sealing and coating composite materials. This integrated approach ensures that problems are diagnosed while providing appropriate repair products from a single source.

“We are excited to introduce these groundbreaking solutions as part of our growing portfolio,” said Dr. Kourosh Bahrami, Corporate Senior Vice President General Manufacturing and Maintenance at Henkel Adhesive Technologies. “With our offering of intelligent maintenance and advanced IIoT technology, we help industrial customers improve reliability, efficiency and sustainability.”

Henkel launched Loctite Pulse in 2021 and expanded its offering in 2023 to include Loctite Pulse Smart Steam Trap technology. The solutions are used by corporations as well as small and medium-sized companies in the oil and gas, chemical, food and beverage industries, as well as in Henkel’s production facilities. At Henkel’s main plant in Düsseldorf, for example, the Loctite Pulse Smart Steam Trap solution uses the app to provide immediate information that can be used to immediately identify problems such as blockages or leaks. “With Loctite Pulse Smart Steam Traps, we can react immediately and avoid lengthy downtimes that can lead to high costs,” said Annegret Schindlmeyr, Sustainability Manager at Henkel.
