AIoT and Edge Computing specialist Advantech has partnered D3 Embedded, a provider of end-to-end edge AI solutions for performance-critical applications.
The partnership aims to enhance the capabilities of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) in industrial settings by integrating Advantech’s Intel Core Ultra-based solutions with D3 Embedded’s customisable cameras. The combined solution employs RealSense Depth GMSL2 Cameras and DesignCore Discovery PRO Series GMSL2 Cameras to improve AI-powered object sensing and recognition.
The collaboration targets industrial applications including manufacturing, warehouse, and retail automation. Advantech’s AFE-R360 and AFE-R760 systems support up to 8 MIPI-CSI lanes for low-latency visible camera inputs and can connect with external MXM-type GPUs.
“D3 Embedded is committed to providing developers with specialised tools for creating next-generation AI sense and compute solutions,” said Scott Reardon, CEO of D3 Embedded. “By collaborating with Advantech on this AMR package, D3 Embedded can help customers deploy edge solutions at scale.”
Advantech’s Senior Director of North America, Sandy Chen, said that the partnership brings together cutting-edge compute and sensing technologies to empower AMRs with vision and performance needed for true autonomy.
The integrated solution includes camera, IMU, LiDAR, motor controllers, wireless communication modules, and industrial display panels. Advantech’s Robotic Suite software development resource allows developers to collect MIPI and GMSL camera data from custom ROS Nodes.
