Garmin has built a heart-rate monitor designed for women.

The HRM-Fit has a clip-on design that attaches to medium- and high-support sports bras to increase comfort while accurately capturing real-time heart rate and training data. It can also be used during activities such as running, indoor and outdoor cycling, HIIT and strength training.

“Designed with comfort in mind, the HRM-Fit is a purpose-built training tool specifically created for our female customers,” said Susan Lyman, Garmin (www.garmin.com) vice president. “Whether you’re going for a run or taking a HIIT class, it easily attaches to the bottom band of a sports bra and provides accurate heart rate and training data to help you know your body better by tracking the ways you move.”

It seamlessly attaches to medium- and high-support sports bras, including those from Adidas, Athleta, Nobull and Under Armour, to reduce movement and enhance comfort.

Real-time heart rate and performance data can be transmitted to compatible Garmin smartwatches and Edge cycling computers, compatible fitness equipment, the Tacx Training app and more.

Users can capture accurate heart rate data for a variety of activities, including running, indoor and outdoor cycling, strength training, HIIT and fitness classes. Plus, if an athlete takes off their compatible smartwatch and leaves it out of range, the HRM-Fit will store the workout data, then send them to the watch once the monitor is back in range of the watch.

Pace and distance can be seen on a compatible Garmin smartwatch when doing an indoor track or treadmill workout. If an athlete isn’t wearing their smartwatch, HRM-Fit captures steps, calories burned, intensity minutes and all-day heart rate. It will even update all compatible Garmin devices via the Garmin Connect smartphone app.

Users receive running dynamics, including ground contact time balance, cadence, stride length and more when paired to a compatible Garmin smartwatch to help improve form.

Featuring up to one year of battery life, the HRM-Fit is available now and has a suggested retail price of $150.

Garmin has also announced the Lily 2 series of petite and fashionable smartwatches that offer health, wellness and connected features. Available in two models, Lily 2 and Lily 2 Classic, both have an elegant, refreshed design with metal watch cases, plus hidden displays with patterned lenses and fashion-forward colour options. And with up to five days of battery life in smartwatch mode, users have plenty of time to enjoy features such as sleep score, dance fitness activities and Garmin Pay contactless payments.

“The Lily series is known for its petite and elegant design elements, and we’re pleased to introduce even more health and connected features to this fashionable line,” said Lyman. “Not only is Lily 2 stylish enough for anything from a day at work to a night out, but it can keep you connected and track your wellbeing with popular features designed for any lifestyle.”

It monitors energy levels throughout the day to help find the best times for activity and rest. Users receive a score for last night’s sleep quality, plus insights on how to do better. And they can keep track of different sleep stages, heart rate, stress, pulse ox and respiration. It keeps track of steps, calories burned, intensity minutes and more.

There are built-in sports apps for cardio, yoga, strength training and more. And the dance fitness activity can track various dance styles, including Zumba, Afrobeat, Bollywood, EDM and hip-hop.

When walking, biking or running outdoors, it can connect to a compatible smartphone’s GPS to get accurate activity tracking stats.

There are reminders to move after being sedentary for a while and various suggested movements to try, such as neck rolls, side bends and squats, with options for seated motions.

Lily 2 also includes women’s health tracking features, letting users track their menstrual cycle and pregnancy while getting exercise and nutrition education.

For life on the go, the Lily 2 series is compatible with Apple or Android smartphones so users can receive emails, text messages and alerts on their watch. Safety and tracking features can help provide peace of mind; for example, when Lily 2 is paired to the Garmin Connect smartphone app, a message with the user’s name and location if available can be sent to pre-selected emergency contacts if an incident is detected. When paired with the Garmin Connect app, users can also see their health and fitness data, connect with friends and participate in challenges, all for free.

Available now, Lily 2 has a suggested retail price of $250, while Lily 2 Classic starts at $280.
