Last week, Josh Henreckson published an article for McNight’s Long-Term Care News that spoke of the new remote monitoring partnership with Circadia Health and more than 80 facilities under Ciena Healthcare, all in the name of reducing preventable hospitalizations.
In addition to leveraging Circadia’s FDA-approved C100 remote monitoring device, the company uses virtual nurses that review “AI-triggered” care escalations. Henreckson quotes Rich Molfetta, Circadia CEO, when he speaks of maintaining the human element as the “real magic” of the system.
Remote monitoring systems are incredibly useful tools to help clinicians track patient health markers across numerous illnesses. Circadia’s C100 can be used to help detect signs of sepsis, COPD, and heart failure. When an alert goes off, the virtual nurses are review and assess to determine the best course of action and if care needs to be escalated.
The company is expecting to see a ~25% decrease in hospitalizations because of their solution. Fares Siddiqui, CEO and Co-founder of Circadia told McKnights, “When you look at the impact of AI in nursing homes and long-term care, there’s a lot of technology that’s promising results…There’s a difference between being theoretical and actually driving standardization and improving quality on a day-to-day basis.”
Currently, Circadia has rolled out remote monitoring devices in 20 facilities and plans to continue the deployment over the next few months.
