Massachusetts-based telehealth company Amwell is working with South Korean firm LG Electronics to expand the boundaries of virtual care.

By combining LG’s technology with Amwell’s deep digital health care experience, the two companies plan to develop device-based services designed to make it easier for patients to access care, whether in a hospital or at home.

The alliance represents a key part of LG’s vision for creating products and services that contribute to a positive society and to making life better. With a shared goal to improve patient care, this technology collaboration will focus on the development of digital healthcare service, starting with in-hospital care in the USA, where LG is a provider of smart TVs for patient rooms.

LG plans to develop a healthcare platform to host services from Amwell’s Converge digital health platform and other third-party services, leveraging LG devices and peripheral technologies.
