M2M player CalAmp has announced an agreement with Masternaut under which it will supply the fleet management company with advanced telematics services to support the tracking and monitoring of trailers, heavy equipment and industrial machinery.

The deal builds on an existing arrangement between the two companies under which CalAmp (Oxnard, CA, USA) has provided wireless telematics devices to Masternaut (Aberford, UK) since early 2014 for deployment throughout Europe.

CalAmp says the new arrangement covers a broader portfolio of its wireless tracking, monitoring and control devices.

These are to be integrated with Masternaut Connect, the fleet management company’s next-generation asset and vehicle management telematics platform.

“The positioning and mobile data technologies underpinning Masternaut Connect can now offer an unprecedented view of asset utilisation and how vehicles are being driven in the new markets of trailer, plant and machinery monitoring,” said Martin Hiscox, the chairman and chief executive of Masternaut. “Masternaut Connect provides the most advanced and functional telematics solution in the market supporting global rollouts for medium and large corporations alike.”

“The ability to measure utilisation and provide asset security and anti-theft measures in conjunction with location-based services are propelling new applications and new market opportunities for Masternaut,” added Hiscox. “As Europe’s largest MRM [mobile resource management] services company, Masternaut will expand its offering by leveraging CalAmp’s devices, which are expected to play an increasingly critical role in assuring the reliable delivery of telematics data and services to our expanding customer base.”

CalAmp has a background in developing technology for automatic vehicle location, fleet management and asset control, and claims the services it is now providing to Masternaut represent the latest developments in positioning, mobile communications, motion sensing and asset management technologies.

“We are delighted to expand our strategic supply chain partnership with Masternaut, whose telematics services are changing the way commercial companies and consumers manage, monitor and insure their fleet and assets,” said Greg Gower, the senior vice president and general manager of CalAmp’s MRM business. “CalAmp’s broad product offerings provide the reliability and functionality vital for these telematics services, which have made us a trusted supplier for these burgeoning markets.”
