Electronics player Eurotech has launched a new M2M gateway it says will meet more demanding transportation industry requirements.

The DynaGATE 15-10 features a rugged design and comes with remote configuration capabilities, says the company.

It is aimed at making transportation M2M operations run smoothly, including functions such as routing, vehicle tracking, engine diagnostics and interfaces to on-board systems.

“The DynaGATE 15-10 is a smart M2M gateway that allows customers to connect sensors, actuators and devices to the operations center for fast deployment and real-time decision making in IoT applications,” said Kurt Hochanadel, Corporate Product Marketing Manager for Eurotech (Amaro, Italy). “This rugged, reliable IoT building block is programmable and remotely configurable, simplifying upgrades and extending usability in demanding transportation environments.”

Eurotech says the gateway features technology from semiconductor giant Intel (Santa Clara, CA, USA), which has been making a push into the Internet of Things (IoT) market to offset the slowdown in its traditional computer activities.

“Eurotech is well aligned with Intel’s approach to the Internet of Things and offers the DynaGATE 15-10 as a reference design to be used in integrated IoT solutions,” said Bridget Karlin, the managing director of IoT strategy for Intel.

According to Eurotech’s statement, operations teams can manage the gateway using a web interface or through the remote device management function of the Eurotech cloud platform.

The device is engineered to withstand shock and vibration and will operate at a range of extended temperatures, making it suitable for rail, bus, trucking and other transportation applications, says the company.
