Working in partnership with M2M module maker Telit, a Swedish start-up called Automile has built a new telematics platform it says has the potential to reinvent fleet management for businesses.

Branded Automile PRO, the service is available in 53 countries, with Telit (London, UK) supporting network connectivity and subscription management for the service.

Automile says the flexibility of Telit’s rate plans and the simplicity of its ePortal-branded subscription management tools has given it an edge over rival service providers.

Indeed, thanks to Telit, it says, it has been able to close a major deal for its connected car platform with a leading international car manufacturer valued at more than $4 million in the first year alone.

That agreement follows another milestone deal earlier in 2014 with a leading aftermarket auto parts provider.

Automile says the contracts will reinforce the offering’s value and product differentiation in the fleet management market.

It also says it chose Telit as a partner after carrying out an “extended market assessment” of M2M providers.

“We are delighted to have been chosen by Automile to make their connected car platform a strong and reliable, enterprise-grade communication platform between businesses, drivers, and their vehicles in over 53 markets, while supporting the richness of their product creativity and speed of development to make Automile the connected car platform of reference,” said Sander Mulder, the global sales manager for m2mAIR mobile at Telit.
