Remote-monitoring specialist Wi-Tronix is to provide asset-tracking services to Co-Operative Bulk Handling (CBH), a grain logistics co-operative in Australia.

The Wi-Tronix (Bolingbrook, IL, USA) technology will support locomotive remote monitoring and hosting services for CBH (Perth, Australia), allowing it to improve fuel efficiency and fleet productivity, according to a company statement.

Under the deal, Wi-Tronix will integrate its mobile asset management tools and customer service features with CBH assets in Australia, employing “state-of-the-art” technology, says Wi-Tronix.

The technology will give CBH the tools it needs to access on-board data in real time, according to the companies.

They say that CBH will be able to make use of Wi-Tronix’s products and services to remotely access data about fleet performance and operations.

The plan is for CBH to maximize fuel efficiency and asset utilization by conserving resources and bolstering productivity through use of the Wi-Tronix technology.

CBH will also be able to wirelessly access and download on-board data from locomotives using a Wi-Fi Downleader feature.

Wi-Tronix’s asset-tracking system should help CBH to reduce its energy consumption and lead to cost reductions and improved performance throughout the company’s network.

Providing further details about the arrangement, CBH said it would use the system’s real-time alerts for fuel levels, asset locations and train arrivals and departures.

Wi-Tronix, meanwhile, indicated that it would offer CBH tools allowing it to detect whether fuel levels are running low or assets have been “idle” for an excessive amount of time.

Based in Western Australia, CBH is a grain storage and handling co-operative controlled by more than 4,500 grain growers.

The organization says its purpose is to provide growers with greater share and control of their products in the grain value chain, and is aiming to row its presence in the eastern part of the country.
