The Trans-African Hydro-Meteorological Observatory (TAHMO) is an application that recognizes the great humanitarian and scientific potential of the IoT. Partnered with Oregon State University and the Delft University of Technology, the organization aims to create a socially driven network of 20,000 connected weather monitoring stations every 30 km across the continent, to accurately measure previously undocumented weather systems, and leapfrog Africa to one of the best monitored continents in the world.
Realising the ever-expanding holiday rental market had no simple solution for round-the-clock, secure key exchange between owners and visitors, they devised the system that became KeyNest. Based in Sweden, IoT solution provider, iioote, which is a LoRa Alliance member, has developed a preventative solution that uses Semtech’s LoRa devices and wireless radio frequency technology. Semtech’s solution is composed of a widely adopted long-range, low-power solution for IoT that gives telecoms companies, IoT application makers and systems integrators the feature set necessary to deploy low-cost, interoperable IoT networks, gateways, sensors, module products and IoT services worldwide.
As world populations age, the human and economic toll of currently incurable neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s grows staggering. DZNE fights these diseases using Big Data analytics, but the limitations of traditional computer systems have been a major bottleneck. Seeking a breakthrough solution, DZNE discovered HPE’s Memory Driven Computing—and saw unprecedented computational speed improvements that hold new promise in the race against Alzheimer’s.
The indoor train was a common point of confusion for travelers at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. Travelers didn’t know if they should wait for the train, or walk to the terminal. Additionally, some passengers believed the train would take them into the city although it is only used for terminal-to-terminal transportation.
In less than a year’s time, C&D spent more than $20,000 to replace ProPress systems; which are tools used to connect pipes for commercial plumbing installations. The business needed an asset tracking system to monitor the use and location of these valuable company resources. An effective solution also needed to track the number of tools in circulation and the length of time out in order to minimize time in transit or inventory.
